Cozad is 9-1 against Cambridge since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Haymakers will be home for the holidays to greet the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Cambridge will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Cozad extended their winning streak to four on Saturday. The Haymakers were the clear victors by a 73-51 margin over Holdrege. Fans of the Haymakers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Cozad's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kellen Shoemaker, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 20 points and eight rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Shoemaker now owns an excellent 46% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayden Hoffmaster, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.
Cozad smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Cambridge hadn't done well against South Loup recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Trojans took down South Loup 66-51.
Cambridge had a senior duo take command as Brady Ahlemeyer shot 43% from the field en route to 27 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds and Hodge Raburn dropped a double-double with 22 points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ahlemeyer has scored all season. Braydon Miller was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.
Cozad's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Cambridge, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Cozad hasn't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 10 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Cambridge, though, as they've been averaging 20.5 turnovers. Given Cozad's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Cozad against Cambridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 79-38 win. Do the Haymakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
