Basketball Game Preview: Rise Academy Guardians vs. TPLS Christian Academy Lions

The Rise Academy Guardians will face off against the TPLS Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rise Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully TPLS Christian Academy likes a good challenge.

Rise Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Veritas School 81-34. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for the Guardians this season.

It was another big night for Nathaniel Seaborn, who posted 26 points. Devonte Atkins was another key player, putting up 13 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, TPLS Christian Academy faced Legacy Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. TPLS Christian Academy strolled past Legacy Academy with points to spare, taking the game 89-70. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Rise Academy pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.1 points per game. As for TPLS Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Rise Academy and TPLS Christian Academy were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in November, but Rise Academy came up empty-handed after an 81-80 loss.
