On Friday, Horizon faced Broomfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Horizon Hawks walked away with a 61-53 victory over the Broomfield Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Horizon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Sokolowski led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 16 boards. Sokolowski has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nate Susi, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points and six boards.

Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Broomfield still got an impressive performance from Ethan Zufall, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That's the most assists Zufall has posted since back in December of 2023. Will Lapham was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Horizon's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Broomfield, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record.

Horizon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-54 victory against Holy Family on the 21st. Broomfield has also already played their next game, a 69-49 win against Longmont on the 21st.
