Volleyball Recap: Wakefield Country Day Comes Up Short

If Wakefield Country Day was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Massanutten Military Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Owls came up short against the Quantico Warriors on Friday, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Owls in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost nine in a row.

Wakefield Country Day took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-18, 25-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Quantico to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lilly Brady, who had 11 digs and two aces. What's more, Brady racked up 12 assists, the most she's had over her last six matches. Another player making a difference was Riley Nicholson, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Wakefield Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Quantico, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

When Wakefield Country Day and Quantico next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Owls will try to stop Eukarya Christian Academy's three-game winning streak when they meet at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Quantico will take on Tandem Friends and their three-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
