League recap: Williams races to league-leading run for Chilton County

5A Region 4 recap October 1, 2013

Chilton County's Davre Williams recorded the longest rushing play in 5A Region 4 this season in his game against Marbury last week. Williams' team defeated the Bulldogs as he sprinted for 92 yards on the play and finished with 92 in all.

Briarwood Christian moved up to 70 from 101 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lions were able to move up by besting Gardendale 24-22.

Chilton County's dynamic duo of Trenton Bishop and Braylan Parker proved tough for Marbury to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bishop threw for 132 yards and Parker had 132 yards receiving.

Thanks to the talents of Riley Mara and Jelani Bender, Carroll Catholic has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Mara is tops in the league in passing with 526 yards, while Bender has rushed for 592 yards this season. Homewood's Devonte Wallace leads the league in receiving yards with 344 on 14 catches.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Donnie Hand's team takes on Sylacauga. The Tigers are in third place, while the Aggies are in second place.

Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A Region 4 this week, the Patriots beat Wetumpka 28-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the Homewood.
