Basketball Game Preview: North Mac Panthers vs. Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Storm

The North Mac Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

North Mac is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Carlinville on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. North Mac took a blow against Carlinville, falling 68-32. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 105th).

Meanwhile, Sangamon Valley/Tri-City had to endure a 13-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 49-44 W over Riverton on Tuesday. The Storm's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

North Mac's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Sangamon Valley/Tri-City, their victory bumped their record up to 2-15.

Everything came up roses for North Mac against Sangamon Valley/Tri-City in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 61-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Mac since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
