The Houston County Fighting Irish will square off against the Kenwood Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Houston County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Houston County's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Kenwood with a sharp 18-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Irish.

Brilee Anderson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Peyton Brooks and Addie Horn did most of the damage at the plate: Brooks scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4, while Horn got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that Horn scored this season. Another player making a difference was Rylan Albright, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Houston County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Kenwood is on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8. As for Houston County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
