Football Recap: Gilmer Buckeyes vs. Brenham Cubs
Gilmer had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it four. They were beaten by the Brenham Cubs 49-7. The Buckeyes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Gilmer lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zade Taylor, who threw for 201 yards on 14 of 26 attempts, and also punched in one TD on the ground. 104 of Taylor's passing yards were hauled in by Solomon Jackson.
