Football Recap: Yutan Takes a Loss

If Yutan was riding high fresh off their 54-6 takedown of Conestoga last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chieftains were dealt a 35-7 defeat at the hands of the Bergan Catholic Knights on Friday. The Chieftains were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.

Despite the loss, Yutan still got an impressive performance from Otto Henkel, who rushed for 93 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

Bergan Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trent Mlnarik, who rushed for 92 yards and three touchdowns. Those 92 rushing yards gave Mlnarik a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Sheets, who picked up 74 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Yutan's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Bergan Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Yutan will face off against Tekamah-Herman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bergan Catholic, they will square off against Aquinas on Friday. The Knights will be up against the Monarchs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
