Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Kempner Cougars vs. Randle Lions
It was a proper cat-fight when Fort Bend Kempner took on Randle on Friday. The Fort Bend Kempner Cougars took a 46-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Randle Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-48 back in January.
Defeat or not, Fort Bend Kempner got some senior leadership from Mario James and Shemar Smith. James went 6 for 10 to rack up 15 points and five boards, while Smith posted seven points. What's more, James also posted a 60% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Randle to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Anunne, who put up ten points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Addison, who had eight points.
Fort Bend Kempner's record is now 14-12. As for Randle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-12 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Victoria East the next time they take the court. Fort Bend Kempner will head out to face Victoria East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Randle will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
