Basketball Game Preview: Escondido Cougars vs. Chula Vista Spartans

The Escondido Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Chula Vista Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Escondido is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Escondido duked it out withLiberty Charter on Monday. Escondido simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Liberty Charter 69-26. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Escondido's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddox Mendoza, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Valadez, who put up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Chula Vista had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 36-29. The 36-point effort marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Chula Vista is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Escondido, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Escondido took their win against Chula Vista in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 74-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Escondido since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
