The Brighton Cardinals will challenge the Fayette Academy Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brighton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Brighton is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Bartlett just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-4.

Brighton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Glass, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave Glass a new career-high. Another was Brenden Killinger, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Fayette Academy came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Vikings have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Fayette Academy also got a great performance from Ben Brewer as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Brewer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Jordan Walker was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Jacoby Hoskins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.
Fayette Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Brighton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like Fayette Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
