Preview: Andrean Fighting 59ers vs. Gary West Side Cougars
Andrean is 7-2 against Gary West Side since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Andrean Fighting 59ers will head out on the road to challenge the Gary West Side Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Andrean focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
Last Friday, Andrean earned a 46-38 win over Hobart.
Jimmy Finley was his usual excellent self, scoring ten points along with three steals and three blocks. Micah Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Gary West Side came up short against Munster on Friday and fell 62-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gary West Side in their matchups with Munster: they've now lost four in a row.
Andrean pushed their record up to 10-9 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Gary West Side, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.
Andrean didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Gary West Side when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 61-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Andrean since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
