Basketball Recap: Cross Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

Cross won the last time they faced Timberland and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cross Trojans snuck past the Timberland Wolves with a 61-55 victory. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Wolves are ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bernard Middleton, who posted 11 points. Micah Flute was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Cross smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Cross pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Timberland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Cross will take on Bethune-Bowman at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethune-Bowman will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Cross surely won't give up without a fight. As for Timberland, they will challenge Academic Magnet at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
