Softball Recap: Ballston Spa's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

If Ballston Spa was riding high fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Saratoga Springs last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Scotties fell just short of the Averill Park Warriors by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday. The loss was the Scotties' first of the season.

Livia Wiltsie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Madelyn Perrone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ava Boni, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Ballston Spa fell to 4-1. As for Averill Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ballston Spa is set to face off against their familiar foe Bethlehem Central at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Averill Park will take on rival Guilderland at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
