Basketball Recap: Frontier Academy Wolverines vs. Wellington Eagles
The Frontier Academy Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 44-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wellington. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Frontier Academy of the 47-41 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the defeat, Frontier Academy saw an underclassman step up: Emily Gesick scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Ava Essay was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with four steals for Wellington. The team also got some help courtesy of Kami Coen, who scored eight points.
Frontier Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frontier Academy will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wellington, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
