Softball Game Preview: Riverview Sarasota Rams vs. Venice Indians

The Riverview Sarasota Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Venice Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Riverview Sarasota's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Bishop Verot hitters got past them. The Rams came up short against the Vikings on Tuesday, falling 12-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rams have suffered since March 23, 2024.

Meanwhile, Venice posted their closest win since February 28th on Friday. They skirted past Braden River 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won nine in a row.

Riverview Sarasota's defeat ended a 20-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-3. As for Venice, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Riverview Sarasota skirted past Venice 4-2 in their previous meeting back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
