Chittenango has gone a perfect 4-0 against Jordan-Elbridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Bears will head out to challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Chittenango will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Last Wednesday, Chittenango made easy work of Solvay and carried off a 10-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Lauren Machan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danica Oppenheimer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was MacKenna Palko, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Chittenango lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Jordan-Elbridge's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 12-2 to Central Square. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jordan-Elbridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Fraher, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Caroline Moch also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Chittenango pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Jordan-Elbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chittenango has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jordan-Elbridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Chittenango was able to grind out a solid win over Jordan-Elbridge when the teams last played back in May of 2019, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
