Recap: Haughton Buccaneers vs. Benton Tigers
Haughton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Benton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Benton Tigers. Haughton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Benton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
For Benton's part, Ava Defee spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. Those nine innings set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Emersyn Disotell was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Livers, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI.
Haughton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Benton, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.
Haughton is on the road again on Thursday to play Captain Shreve at 6:00 p.m. As for Benton, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Byrd at 6:00 p.m.
