Baseball Game Preview: West Florence Knights vs. East Clarendon Wolverines

The West Florence Knights will take on the East Clarendon Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West Florence 3.3, East Clarendon 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

East Clarendon will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: West Florence extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Knights put the hurt on South Florence with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Knights have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Avery Weaver was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Chase Anderson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

West Florence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Florence only posted an OBP of .238.

Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, East Clarendon's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 10-1 to Atlantic Collegiate Academy. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wolverines, who until this game were averaging 4.06 runs allowed.

East Clarendon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dawson Beard, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

East Clarendon's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 13-5. As for West Florence, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.

Everything went West Florence's way against East Clarendon in their previous meeting back in March, as West Florence made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
