Softball Game Preview: Penn Manor Comets vs. Chambersburg Trojans

Penn Manor is 0-3 against Chambersburg since June of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Comets will be playing at home against the Trojans at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Penn Manor turned things around against Cedar Crest on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons a 15-0 shutout. The Comets' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Juleigh Bowmaster made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Kreider, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those runs were her first of the season. Scarlett Teran was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Penn Manor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Chambersburg waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 5-1.

Penn Manor's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Chambersburg, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
