Volleyball Recap: Mitchell's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Erwin, Mitchell was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the North Buncombe Black Hawks. For the Mountaineers, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Black Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Mitchell was especially dominant in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-17, 27-25, 15-25, 25-12.

Regan Woodlief paced Mitchell's offense, picking up 12 kills. Woodlief got some help from Piper Cook and her 13 assists. Olivia Thacker controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.

Mitchell's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for North Buncombe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Mitchell will be playing in front of their home fans against Hendersonville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Buncombe, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Mountain Heritage on the 26th.
