Softball Recap: Cannon Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Cannon took on Covenant Day on Monday. The Cougars came out on top against the Lions by a score of 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won nine in a row.

Addie Hartz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Hartz wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jolie Matthews, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Cannon's record is now 12-4. As for Covenant Day, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.
