Baseball Recap: St. Anthony Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

St. Anthony got themselves on the board against Mahomet-Seymour on Monday, but Mahomet-Seymour never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Mahomet-Seymour. That's more bragging rights for St. Anthony, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Brock Fearday, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Mahomet-Seymour off the board. Fearday has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Vincent Vogel, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Hatton, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

St. Anthony's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Mahomet-Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

St. Anthony and Mahomet-Seymour should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Bulldogs will take on Mattoon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (35 vs. 156). Meanwhile, Mahomet-Seymour (ranked 115th) will meet Bloomington Central Catholic (ranked 426th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
