Baseball Game Preview: Viewpoint Patriots vs. Orange Glen Patriots

Viewpoint will head out to square off against Orange Glen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Viewpoint has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Viewpoint will bounce into Monday's game after beating Windward, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Viewpoint sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Windward last Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since May 7, 2024.

Meanwhile, Orange Glen got the win against Guajome Park Academy on Friday by a conclusive 11-1. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Frogs: they've now won four in a row.

Nicki Cardenas made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Manny LaChappa was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jayden Loyola also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Viewpoint's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for Orange Glen, their record now sits at 6-3-1.
