Andrew Sun was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Drew Hamburger was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Logan Christianson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Santa Teresa sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Santa Cruz on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Saints have won by just one run.
Micah DeLap spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Santa Teresa is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Santa Teresa's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was David Hall, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Santa Teresa pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Homestead, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Homestead couldn't quite get it done against Santa Teresa when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 6-1. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
