Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask York). Everything went their way against the Freeport Falcons on Friday as they made off with a 20-10 win. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on five straight.
York got a massive performance out of Robbie Hanscom, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. Those five runs gave Hanscom a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bradley Carr, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5.
York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
York pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Freeport, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Looking ahead, York will challenge Greely at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Freeport does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
