Softball Recap: Bucktail Wins Going Away Against Sugar Valley Rural

Bucktail had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Sugar Valley Rural on Wednesday. The Bucks blew past the Phoenix 19-1. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won five matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Bucktail got a massive performance out of Kendall Wagner, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave Wagner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eva Sockman, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Bucktail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sugar Valley Rural only posted an OBP of .167.

Bucktail is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Sugar Valley Rural, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bucktail will host Oswayo Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Green Wave have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Bucks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sugar Valley Rural, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Raiders will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Phoenix surely won't give up without a fight.
