Softball Game Preview: Kenwood Bluebirds vs. Hereford Bulls

The Kenwood Bluebirds will head out to face off against the Hereford Bulls at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Kenwood put up the most points they have all season on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Patapsco. Considering the Bluebirds' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Hereford put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Lansdowne with a sharp 28-7 win. That looming 28-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulls yet this season.

Alex Frank was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Frank was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hereford got a massive performance out of Aly Wegrzyn, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. That stolen base was Wegrzyn's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Hall, who went 1-for-6 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Hereford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hereford's record now sits at 5-0. As for Kenwood, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Kenwood couldn't quite get it done against Hereford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can Kenwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
