Baseball Recap: Gila Ridge Comes Up Short

Gila Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 7-2 to the McClintock Chargers.

Raul Vera was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gila Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Truett Jaca, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. Luke Foppe also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Gila Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for McClintock, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Gila Ridge will welcome Skyline at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gila Ridge's pitchers better be ready for this one: Skyline has averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for McClintock, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Chaparral on the 27th.
