Baseball Recap: Filer Wildcats vs. Gooding Senators
It was a good run, but Filer unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Gooding Senators by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Senators since April 20, 2023.

Bridger Phillips was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Filer's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).
Phillips wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Westley Billington, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 7-6. As for Gooding, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4.
