Basketball Recap: Cesar Chavez Piles Up the Points Against South Mountain

Cesar Chavez waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the South Mountain Jaguars 66-25. With the Champions ahead 41-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Leading Cesar Chavez to victory were Victoria Ballard and Alex Ballard. Victoria went 11 for 21 en route to 24 points and five rebounds, while Alex went 6 of 12 on her way to 21 points. The contest was Victoria's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Lakeisha Robinson was another key player, putting up six points along with seven boards and four steals.

Cesar Chavez smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why South Mountain lost, don't look at Bry'Ann Wiley. Despite the final result, she posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Breanna Walters, who had five points and five boards.
