Softball Recap: Mitchell Mountaineers vs. Avery County Vikings

Mitchell barely beat Avery County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mountaineers were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Vikings on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-7 on Monday.

Brianna Nutter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gracie English, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Ollis, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Mitchell hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
