Basketball Recap: Union Colony Prep Comes Up Short

Union Colony Prep fought the good fight in their overtime game against Dayspring Christian Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 60-58. The Timberwolves were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Union Colony Prep lost, don't look at Josiah Rodriguez. Despite the final result, he went 11 of 19 on his way to 29 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Rodriguez a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Sarchet, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Owen Mcclanahan was nothing short of spectacular for Dayspring Christian Academy: he went 11 for 18 en route to 27 points and seven rebounds. Mcclanahan has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Oliver Heenan also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Union Colony Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Union Colony Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-51 loss against SkyView Academy on the 23rd. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 48-41 victory against Denver Academy on the 23rd.
