Softball Recap: Downingtown West's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

If Downingtown West was riding high fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Bishop Shanahan on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Whippets fell 5-2 to the Avon Grove Red Devils on Wednesday. The Whippets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Addison Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Downingtown West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Casey McWilliams, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Downingtown West's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Avon Grove, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
