Basketball Recap: Garland Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Joshua Kalu and Kaden James

Garland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Naaman Forest Rangers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-44 back in December of 2024.

Garland's loss came despite strong showings from Kaden James and Joshua Kalu. James posted 18 points, while Kalu almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Luca Perez was another key player, putting up two points and seven assists.

Even though they lost, Garland was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Garland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Naaman Forest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-16.

Garland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-46 loss against Rowlett on the 17th. Naaman Forest has also already played their next matchup, a 56-45 victory against Wylie on the 17th.
