Volleyball Recap: Darien Takes a Loss

Darien was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McMahon Senators. The Blue Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Senators apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Darien started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-22.

Defeat or not, Darien got some senior leadership from Alexis Procopion and Myra Burkhart. Procopion had 18 assists and 11 digs, while Burkhart had three digs, three aces, and one block.

Darien's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for McMahon, their win ended an eight-match drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.

Darien didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Norwalk on the 22nd. As for McMahon, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Greenwich on the 22nd.
