Basketball Recap: Logan Glazier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coleman over Calvary Baptist Academy

If Coleman was riding high fresh off their 57-37 takedown of St. Charles last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Coleman Comets took a hard 68-54 fall against the Calvary Baptist Academy Kings on Monday. The Comets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Kings earlier this season, when they won 54-43.

Coleman lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Logan Glazier, who to rack up 19 points and three steals. That was a full 35.2% of Coleman's points, marking the fourth time in a row Glazier has posted more than a third of the team's points. Jared DeVrieze was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Coleman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Calvary Baptist Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gauge Roy led the charge by on his way to 28 points. Those 28 points gave Roy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlie VanBeek, who en route to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Coleman's record is now 13-10. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-16.

Coleman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, they will challenge Nouvel Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
