Baseball Game Preview: Hansberry Bengals vs. Mansueto Leopards

Hansberry is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Mansueto Leopards at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses dating back to last season for Hansberry and six for Mansueto dating back to last season.

Hansberry lost 10-3 to Thornridge on Tuesday.

Shaheed Green made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Mansueto fell victim to Hubbard and their airtight pitching crew back in March. They came up short against the Greyhounds, falling 7-0.

Mansueto's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Hansberry, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hansberry has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mansueto struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Hansberry was able to grind out a solid win over Mansueto in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 18-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bengals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
