Baseball Game Preview: East Ridge Pioneers vs. Red Bank Lions

East Ridge hasn't had much luck against Red Bank recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pioneers will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. East Ridge has given up an average of 12.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East Ridge is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Saturday. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oakwood Christian.

Jacob Davis stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tyler Madden, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Red Bank was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 5-1 to McMinn Central.

Sean Brune spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Red Bank saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andry Briceno, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Nasir Ellis also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Red Bank's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for East Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. East Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Red Bank struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
