Softball Game Preview: Littleton Tigers vs. Tyngsborough Tigers

Littleton will head out on the road to take on Tyngsborough at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Tyngsborough took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Littleton, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Littleton needed a bit of extra time to put away Marlborough. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-9 win.

Littleton let Jillian Palmer and Maeve Tule run wild. Palmer went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Tule went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Palmer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabelle Caouette, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Littleton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Tyngsborough's offense. They fell 4-0 to Bedford on Friday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Littleton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Tyngsborough, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4-1.

Both Littleton and Tyngsborough just can't seem to miss. Littleton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Tyngsborough struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Littleton suffered a grim 22-2 defeat to Tyngsborough in their previous meeting back in April. Can Littleton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
