It was a good run, but Roane County unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 68-58 to the Tellico Plains Bears. The Yellowjackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 83-81.

Roane County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aaron Layne, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The game was Layne's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden O'Leary, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points and eight assists.

Roane County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 20-3. As for Tellico Plains, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Roane County and Tellico Plains should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Roane County (ranked 41st) will meet Meigs County (ranked 319th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Tellico Plains will square off against Sweetwater at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 224 places (46 vs. 270).
