Baseball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Bellbrook on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 6-5. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Aiden Standifer put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last four matchups. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Zach Beeson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Andrew Cooke was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Bellbrook, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.

While Franklin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
