Volleyball Recap: Lutheran Cougars vs. Platte County Pirates
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lutheran had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Platte County Pirates.
Lutheran was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 18-25, 25-20, 25-17.
Lacey Zumbehl paced Lutheran's offense, picking up 21 kills. Zumbehl got some help from
Katelyn Diani-O'Day and her 38 assists. Diani-O'Day was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Lutheran has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 24-14 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to blocks: they averaged an imposing 1.87 blocks in those games compared to only 1.87 in the others. As for Platte County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-13-1.
