Baseball Recap: Oak Ridge's Loss Ends 15-Game Winning Streak at Home

Oak Ridge dropped their record down to 25-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's 15-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Daniel Boone Trailblazers by a score of 4-3. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trailblazers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Oak Ridge got a good showing from Isaiah Wilson, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Oak Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Richie Ferreira, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Daniel Boone, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Daniel Boone's side, Braden Gore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Clay Rowland, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben Stevens, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Coming up, Oak Ridge will host Maryville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.72 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Daniel Boone, they will head out on the road to face off against Powell at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Trailblazers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
