Softball Recap: Springdale Comes Up Short

Springdale had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it six. They came up short against the South Allegheny Gladiators, falling 16-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Dynamos were not able to get on the board.

As for South Allegheny, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

For South Allegheny's part, they let Cadence McBride and Cameran Colecchi run wild. McBride went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles, while Colecchi went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Sydney Gordon was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Springdale is set to face off against their familiar foe Northgate at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, South Allegheny will challenge rival Shady Side Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
