Basketball Game Recap: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Herriman Mustangs

Corner Canyon won the last time they faced Herriman, and Sorrelle Nielsen did her part to make sure it happened again. The Corner Canyon Chargers took down the Herriman Mustangs 56-38 on Thursday thanks in part to Nielsen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Addi Yeomans, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Despite the defeat, Herriman had strong showings from Maddi Little, who scored 17 points, and Jaylee Hansen, who earned 11 points and six boards.

Corner Canyon's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-5. As for Herriman, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Corner Canyon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-46 defeat against Riverton on the 21st. Herriman has also already played their next contest, a 58-14 loss against Copper Hills on the 21st.
