Volleyball Game Preview: Southwest SD Raiders vs. Sweetwater Red Devils + Official Tickets

The Southwest SD Raiders will head out to square off against the Sweetwater Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sweetwater took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Southwest SD, who comes in off a win.

Southwest SD will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Hilltop, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Raiders walked away with a 3-1 win over the Lancers on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Raiders have beaten the Lancers on their court since October 15, 2021.

Southwest SD had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-14, 25-21, 28-26.

Meanwhile, Sweetwater was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Olympian, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Red Devils have suffered since October 17, 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-14, 25-16.

Sweetwater's defeat dropped their record down to 14-22. As for Southwest SD, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 12-13.

Southwest SD beat Sweetwater 3-1 in their previous meeting last Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
