Basketball Recap: Millersburg Comes Up Short

Millersburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 50-27 to the Susquenita Blackhawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blackhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-25 two weeks ago.

When it comes to explaining why Millersburg lost, don't look at Emma Miller. Despite the final result, she posted eight points along with ten boards and three blocks. Miller has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 16 times she's played. Amaya Hoffman was another key player, putting up six points.

Riley Egresits was the offensive standout of the contest as she earned 12 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tierney Stuempfle, who scored five points and seven rebounds.

Millersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Susquenita, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9.

Millersburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Susquenita, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-40 loss against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy on the 10th.
