Baseball Game Preview: Washington Union Panthers vs. Reedley Pirates

The Washington Union Panthers will take on the Reedley Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Washington Union is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Washington Union's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Exeter. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly three runs.

Trey Morris was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Morris wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Zuniga, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Reedley had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hanford West on Friday, sneaking past 3-1.

Washington Union pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Reedley, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-10.
